Backwaters, mangrove islets and an old Dutch fort where the Chettuva river meets the sea.
Updated · By Morning Trip Holidays
Chettuva is a coastal village where backwaters, mangroves and small river islands (thuruthu) meet the Arabian Sea. The ruins of a Dutch-era fort, a busy fishing harbour and quiet canoe routes through the mangroves make it very different from the rest of Thrissur.
Local boat operators run backwater trips; ask around at the jetty.
About 25 km from Thrissur on the Thrissur–Chavakkad side; close to Chavakkad and Enamavu.
