Nilgiri Mountain Railway: Toy Train Ride from Mettupalayam to Ooty

Tunnels, tea gardens and a slow climb on the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway from Mettupalayam.

The blue-and-cream train leaves Mettupalayam in the morning and starts its slow rack-and-pinion climb into the hills. Within an hour the plains give way to forest, waterfalls and long curves above the valley.
