Overview

Chennai is the gateway to Tamil Nadu and one of India's largest cities. The long Marina Beach runs along its coast, while neighbourhoods like Mylapore keep the rhythm of temple bells, music sabhas and morning filter coffee.

History lovers can visit Fort St. George, the first British fort in India, and the Indo-Saracenic buildings around George Town. Chennai is also the easiest base for day trips down the East Coast Road to Mahabalipuram.
