Malabar's historic port — Kozhikode Beach, Kappad, SM Street and the famous Kozhikode halwa and biryani.
Kozhikode, also called Calicut, was a great spice trading port for centuries. Vasco da Gama landed near Kappad in 1498, and the town still carries the mix of cultures that trade brought.
Today travellers come for the evening crowds on Kozhikode Beach, the shops of SM Street (Mittai Theruvu) and Malabar food — biryani, seafood and Kozhikode halwa.
