Vettilappara is the last village before the forest closes in on the Athirappilly road. Its bridge over the Chalakudy river gives one of the best open views of the river, and the oil palm and rubber plantations around it give the area a quiet, green feel.
The Silver Storm water theme park and several resorts make it a common base for families visiting Athirappilly.
