We wanted a weekend with no plans. A riverside resort at Ezhattumugham turned out to be the perfect choice — close enough to Athirappilly, but far from its crowds.
Our room opened onto a lawn that ended at the river. There was a pool, a small Ayurveda centre and a restaurant serving Kerala and North Indian dishes.
Ask for a river-facing room — the price difference is small and the view is the whole point.
